Introduction to conventions of posters

This post is an introduction to the analysis of posters. I have decided to look at a range of diverse genre's such a thriller, action, comedy and fantasy.



The movies I have decided to analyse are the following:

1. The Avengers (Action)

  2. Filth (Comedy)

  3. True Grit

4.  Texas chainsaw (Horror)

5. Titanic (Romantic Drama)

I am carrying out this post in order to grasp a better understanding of the conventions of posters and to evaluate if poster's across a wide range of genres' share similar conventions.
